Elisa Samourcachian is a Greek-French journalist of Armenian origin, specialized in cultural topics, lifestyle, toys, advertising creations and budget savings. She joined Strategies, in September 2021, in the Brand/Agency section where she wrote articles for the magazine.

Sophia and Marc-Alexandre Risch founded Obart, a brand at the crossroads of perfume and skincare, giving birth to a new category: scentcare. The official launch is scheduled for August, exclusively at Sephora.

We all know - or at least makeup enthusiasts - the primer, this product that allows you to fix the makeup for several hours without it moving. This small revolution, which came a few years ago, is about to welcome its successor. Indeed, from this August, Sephora will exclusively welcome the first primer adapted to perfumes, designed to extend their hold up to eight hours. Behind this innovation is the Obart brand, launched this month by co-founders Sophia and Marc-Alexandre Risch. "It started from our observation: we found that our perfumes were losing in outfit. We saw people giving advice to make them last longer, such as putting on Vaseline, "recalls Marc-Alexandre Risch.

For three years, the entrepreneurial couple has been working on Obart, a name that refers to "beauty and art", two passions they have associated. The arrival of their Primer Parfum P3 gives birth to a new category in beauty, combining perfume and skincare: scentcare. "It's a brand that wants to be happy, designed for people who love perfume," says Sophia Risch.

An already international brand

As the launch approaches, the co-founders are more than ready for this moment: "it is the first brand, not yet launched, to have been incubated in France and the United States since its creation. It's an absolute dream for us," they confide. If they started with two, the Obart team now has nine people (and as many nationalities) and plans, in addition to its primer, eight perfumes made in France. "The primer is made in South Korea, because they are the experts in the field," they say.

This project was made possible thanks to their network of contacts, which allowed them to get an appointment of about thirty minutes at Sephora, where they, in their words, "made a PowerPoint presentation with only two samples. By trying the formulas and testing them themselves, they trusted us, "they explain.

With Obart, the couple wants to "install scentcare as a category in its own right", all at affordable prices.
